$25 Donation in Honor of 25 Years
It all began on October 28, 1986, the morning after the Boston Red Sox lost the World Series. Founder and Curator Barry Levenson was walking the aisles of an all-night grovery, searching for consolation. From the mustards came the voice: "If you collect us, they will come."
He did, they have, and the world's largest collection of mustards now celebrates a quarter century of condiment magic.
For most of those 25 years, the Mustard Museum struggled by as a for-profit (LLC) entity but it became clear that the museum could not survive under that structure. Early this year (2011), the museum split off from the business as a separate nonprofit and the IRS has approved our application for 501(c)3 status. This means your donation qualifies as a deductible charitable expense.
Our goal is "One Thousand Twenty Fives" - a thousand donations of $25 each - to support the new National Mustard Museum.
